The Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court in the Free State has dropped all charges against a man implicated in the murder of 16-year-old Machaka Radebe.
Twenty-seven-year-old Ntlantla Jozi, who faced charges yesterday, was released due to a lack of evidence.
Jozi had been accused of abducting and murdering Radebe, whose body was discovered in Phase 9 of Bloemfontein in December of the previous year.
In January, Jozi was initially denied bail.
“The Bloemfontein Magistrate’s court has withdrawn the charges in the Machaka Radebe murder case due to insufficient evidence to proceed with prosecuting the accused,” said Mojalefa Senokoatsane, a spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority in the province. He added, “Police investigations into the matter are still ongoing.”
