Prosecutors are expected to oppose the bail request of five individuals accused of murdering rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and his associate,
Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane, in the Durban Magistrate’s Court today. Forbes and Motsoane were fatally attacked in Durban last year. Last month, police revealed the arrests, uncovering an intricate operation targeting Forbes. Additionally, two more suspects are held in Eswatini, awaiting an extradition decision. In a sworn affidavit, Mziwethemba Gwabeni, the alleged mastermind, confessed to receiving R800,000 but claimed it was for legitimate business conducted by his company. Several co-accused have alleged police brutality, coerced confessions, or threats to their families.
In his bail plea, Lindani Ndimande cited the killing of four of his siblings by police and stated that the Eswatini-held suspects fled as a result.
