LATEST NEWS: Ramaphosa says new cruise terminal in Durban is a positive contribution to the economy
President Cyril Ramaphosa praised the Nelson Mandela cruise terminal in Durban as an exceptional tourist attraction.
The new terminal was revealed during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the port on Wednesday evening.
Ramaphosa, accompanied by Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube, mentioned that over 500,000 employment opportunities will be generated over a 15-year period.
The President also highlighted the investment value of the KZN Logistics Hub program, which amounts to R157 billion.
The Mediterranean Cruise Company (MSC), in collaboration with Transnet, worked together to design, construct, and manage the new depot at the Durban port.
Ramaphosa emphasized that the development not only marks the launch of the terminal but also signifies a crucial milestone in positioning the City of Durban as a leading cruise terminal and tourist destination globally.
He expressed confidence that this will significantly enhance tourism in Durban and make a positive contribution to the economy, not only of the city and province but also of the entire country.
