The South African men’s cricket team (Proteas) will take on Afghanistan in the T20 World Cup semi-finals in Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday.
Afghanistan secured their first-ever semi-final berth in a major Cricket World Cup tournament by defeating Bangladesh by just eight runs in a rain-affected Super Eight match in St Vincent.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Afghanistan posted 115 for five in their allotted 20 overs. Rain intervened, leading to the implementation of the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method
Bangladesh was then set a revised target of 114 runs to win in 19 overs. However, Afghanistan's captain Rashid Khan and Naveen-ul-Haq each claimed four wickets, dismissing Bangladesh for 105.
This victory also eliminated Australia from the tournament.
