A two-year-old girl has died after she and her father were struck by a bakkie while walking to a taxi rank on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast.
The crash happened on Wednesday night at the intersection of Wartski Drive and the R620 in Margate.
KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service spokesperson Craig Botha said emergency responders found the toddler critically injured at the scene, but she died before paramedics arrived.
Her father sustained serious injuries, including multiple fractures.
Paramedics stabilised him at the scene before transporting him to the nearest hospital under high-level medical care.
Botha said police and traffic officials attended the scene and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
