A 42-year-old truck driver accused of possessing explosives is expected to continue his bail application in the Musina Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The suspect was arrested last week at the Beitbridge Border Post while entering South Africa from Zimbabwe.
Authorities allege that explosives valued at approximately R1 million were discovered concealed in a hidden compartment within the trailer of his truck. The arrest followed a joint operation involving the Border Management Authority and other border officials.
The Border Management Authority believes the explosives were intended for use in cash-in-transit robberies and illegal mining operations.
Items seized include blasting cartridges, detonators and fuse reels.
The accused, identified as Maroto, remains in custody and is expected to formally apply for bail as proceedings continue.
