Two teenagers accused of a mass shooting in Westbury are expected to apply for bail at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
The suspects are facing charges of murder and attempted murder following the incident, which claimed the lives of two people and left five others injured. Among the wounded was a 15-month-old baby.
It has since emerged that the accused were already out on bail in connection with a previous shooting in the same area in October last year.
The case has raised renewed concerns about violent crime in Westbury and the granting of bail to repeat offenders. Proceedings are expected to continue in court as the State opposes the bail application.
