Some beneficiaries of the child support grant in Limpopo’s Vhembe district have raised concerns after not receiving their payments this month.
Affected recipients say they have not received any communication from the South African Social Security Agency explaining the delay, leaving many uncertain about the status of their grants.
SASSA spokesperson in the district, Mavhungu Tshipuke, confirmed that the agency is currently conducting reviews of certain beneficiaries to verify their continued eligibility.
He explained that the process includes checking whether beneficiaries’ personal details are up to date, particularly the submission of life certificates.
“There are individuals we are busy reviewing to check if their details are in order, especially the issue of life certificate. These individuals must come to our offices to check if they are still alive. You will realise that all SASSA beneficiaries should be reviewed every year as they receive their grants from the bank,” said Tshipuke.
Beneficiaries affected by the delays have been urged to visit their nearest SASSA offices to resolve any outstanding issues.
In a media statement issued on 1 April 2026, SASSA said it is continuing efforts to ensure that social grants are paid to the correct recipients through ongoing reviews and verification processes.
The agency reiterated that periodic reviews form part of its measures to prevent fraud and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
