Ramaphosa Commends Medical Team for Successful Separation of Conjoined Twins in Limpopo

President Cyril Ramaphosa has praised a team of medical specialists for successfully separating conjoined twins at Mankweng Hospital.

The twins, born in January, were joined at the abdomen and chest. A multidisciplinary team led by paediatric surgeon Nyaweleni Tshifularo carried out the complex procedure.

Ramaphosa personally congratulated the team during a phone call to Dr Tshifularo, commending their expertise and dedication.

“We thank you for having succeeded in doing this unbelievable and complicated, difficult operation,” the president said. “I can just imagine how difficult the operation was, so I congratulate all of you and the nation is filled with pride.”

The successful surgery has been hailed as a significant medical achievement, highlighting the capabilities of South Africa’s public healthcare professionals.
