Two people have been shot and killed in a suspected taxi-related incident in Delft.
Police responded to the scene near the Palm Taxi Rank, where the bodies of a man and a woman were discovered with multiple gunshot wounds.
Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg said preliminary investigations suggest that unknown suspects opened fire on the victims while they were travelling in the area.
The suspects reportedly fled the scene and have not yet been apprehended.
Authorities have since heightened security in the area, with members of the South African Police Service and other law enforcement agencies deployed to taxi ranks and along key routes in Delft to monitor the situation and prevent further violence.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
