Four people have been shot and killed at a venue believed to be a tavern in Harare, Khayelitsha, authorities say, while one other person sustained injuries.
Western Cape police spokesperson André Traut confirmed that the victims were watching a soccer match at the premises when four armed men opened fire.
“It is reported that the suspects arrived at the residence where several patrons were gathered in a yard watching a soccer match when they opened fire on the group,” Traut said.
Four victims, aged between 30 and 38, died at the scene, while a 59-year-old was wounded and is receiving medical treatment.
The suspects fled on foot and have not yet been apprehended. Police investigations are ongoing.
