The Economic Freedom Fighters has called for US Ambassador Brent Bozell to be expelled and declared persona non grata following remarks he made at a BizNews conference.
Bozell reportedly said the White House was growing frustrated with Pretoria’s refusal to comply with US demands, including ending expropriation policies and other transformation laws. He also suggested that South Africa should adopt a non-aligned stance, which could imply leaving international groupings such as BRICS.
The ambassador further stated that he does not consider court rulings relevant in certain cases and described the song “Kill the Boer” as hate speech.
The EFF condemned Bozell’s comments, saying neither he nor the Trump administration has the authority to dictate South Africa’s domestic or foreign policy.
The party described the remarks as an insult to the office of the President, Parliament, and the judiciary, and reiterated its demand that Bozell be removed from the country.
