A man has been shot and killed in an apparent ambush at an intersection in Westville, west of Durban, on Tuesday afternoon.
Police and paramedics responded to the scene at the corner of Buckingham Terrace and Menston Road, where the victim was found inside his vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.
According to ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, it appears the man believed to be in his 30s was attacked after stopping at a set of traffic lights.
“Unfortunately, the male sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and I can confirm he has passed away at the crime scene,” Jamieson said.
The South African Police Service has cordoned off the area as investigations continue.
Motorists have been advised to avoid the intersection, with authorities warning that the scene is expected to remain active for several hours while forensic teams process evidence.
The motive for the shooting has not yet been established.
