Former Public Enterprises Minister Malusi Gigaba’s corruption case has been transferred to the Johannesburg High Court, where he is expected to appear on 19 February.

Gigaba, along with former Transnet executives Anoj Singh, Brian Molefe, Siyabonga Gama and Thamsanqa Jiyane, briefly appeared in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on Friday morning.

The group faces corruption-related charges linked to Transnet’s multi-billion-rand locomotive procurement programme, which has been under scrutiny over alleged irregularities and state capture-era dealings.

Gigaba has been released on warning, while his co-accused remain out on bail.

The matter will now proceed in the High Court, where the state is expected to formally outline its case against the accused.
