Emergency rescue teams are searching for a missing person after a vehicle was swept away along the N11 while heading toward the Bergville Toll Plaza. The incident occurred when the car was carried off the road by strong water currents, leaving the passenger unaccounted for.
Emergency services, including ER24, K9 Search and Rescue, and local breakdown services, responded swiftly to the scene. Authorities confirmed that the driver managed to escape but was unable to save his passenger before they were washed away.
Recounting the ordeal, the driver described how the incident unfolded in an instant. “One moment, the vehicle was on the road, and the next, it had plunged down an embankment and overturned in the water,” he said. Despite managing to free himself, he was unable to reach his passenger in time.
Rescue teams are actively combing the area in hopes of locating the missing individual. Meanwhile, the driver, who sustained injuries, has been transported to the hospital for further medical attention.
