Authorities are searching for an armed gang that carried out a brazen robbery at a store in Bridge City Mall, KwaMashu, north of Durban. The attack, which took place on Sunday, left a customer injured.
According to KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Thenjiswa Ngcobo, a group of eight suspects stormed the store, brandishing firearms before making off with stolen goods.
“Reports indicate that the suspects entered the shop, threatened employees at gunpoint, and stole cell phones before fleeing the scene,” Ngcobo said.
A female customer was wounded during the ordeal and is receiving medical treatment. Police have launched an investigation into the incident, with cases of business robbery and attempted murder currently under investigation by KwaMashu police.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as the search for the suspects continues.
