A suspect is in critical condition after reportedly being shot by security personnel in Durban’s CBD on Monday morning. The incident took place at the intersection of Dr. Pixley KaSeme and Stalwart Simelane streets.
According to Garrith Jamieson, spokesperson for ALS Paramedics, emergency responders arrived at the scene to find a man in his 30s with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. "He was in a critical condition and was stabilized on-site by Advanced Life Support Paramedics before being rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment," Jamieson said.
Initial reports suggest that the suspect was shot by security officials. While the circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear, authorities have confirmed that the South African Police Service (SAPS) is conducting a full investigation into the incident.
