eThekwini Municipality has announced that its plans for the Durban beachfront this festive season are progressing well, with the approval of funding for safety and improvement initiatives at a recent council meeting.
The R5.4 million project is part of the city's Festive Season Management Plan and includes several key measures aimed at enhancing the visitor experience and ensuring safety. One of the main initiatives is the introduction of a park-and-ride service to ease traffic congestion and make access to the beach more convenient for visitors.
In addition, the city plans to install more ablution facilities, enhance the maintenance of showers, and improve overall cleanliness along the beachfront. Security measures will also be strengthened, with an ambulance service stationed along the promenade 24/7 to respond to emergencies.
These efforts are part of eThekwini's broader commitment to improving safety and the overall experience for tourists visiting Durban during the busy holiday season.
