The African National Congress (ANC) in Tshwane has decided to withdraw its motion of no confidence against Tshwane Mayor Cilliers Brink. The decision comes as the party seeks to engage further with other parties interested in forming a government of local unity.

The ANC had initially announced plans for a vote of no confidence, citing concerns over the city's deterioration under Brink's leadership. However, the party has now chosen to prioritize discussions and negotiations with potential coalition partners.

ANC Regional Secretary George Matjila explained the decision: "We have withdrawn the motion and will now focus on concluding discussions with the parties involved. To succeed, we need a majority of 50 plus one, but it's also crucial to establish a clear understanding and alignment among the parties in the government of local unity."

The withdrawal of the motion indicates the ANC's willingness to explore collaborative governance solutions, as they continue to work towards addressing the challenges facing Tshwane.
