The South African Weather Service has issued a Level 5 weather warning for Cape Town and its surrounding municipalities, following recent severe weather conditions. The warning comes on the heels of torrential rains and gale-force winds earlier this month, which had already caused significant damage to infrastructure and widespread flooding across the Western Cape.

City authorities are on high alert, prepared to address the potential impacts of the severe weather. Cape Town has experienced rainfall equivalent to its annual average in just a short period.

Major dams in the region, including Steenbras, Berg River, and Theewaterskloof, are now at full capacity, highlighting the extent of recent rainfall. The situation underscores the need for continued vigilance and preparedness as the weather event unfolds.
