Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) officers responded to a school in Forest Haven, Phoenix, north of Durban, on Monday morning following reports that a learner had allegedly threatened to stab a teacher.

Reaction officers arrived at the school at approximately 8:35am, where they were informed that a 15-year-old Grade 10 learner had allegedly threatened a female teacher while in possession of a black knife.

According to information received, the incident occurred after the teacher questioned the learner about his presence and behaviour in the school office.

The learner allegedly responded with vulgar language, claiming that he was unwell and wanted to write his examination in the office rather than in the examination room.

The learner was reportedly busy writing an examination when the incident occurred. However, examination procedures prevented his immediate removal from the examination room.

Reaction officers assessed the situation while arrangements for further intervention were being made.

No further details regarding the outcome of the incident have been made available.
