Suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner for Crime Detection, Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya, is expected to return to the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday as his bail application continues.
Sibiya is facing several charges, including rape, human trafficking, contravention of the Firearms Control Act and the alleged sexual grooming of a minor.
He was arrested in September at the Grand Strip Club in Rivonia, north of Johannesburg.
During proceedings last week, the court heard details from the investigating officer concerning allegations involving an 18-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl.
Detective Sergeant Nokukhanya Ndlovu told the court that Sibiya allegedly supplied the 18-year-old with alcohol before raping her after she lost consciousness in a hotel room.
The investigating officer also testified about alleged communications between Sibiya and the 16-year-old.
According to Ndlovu, Sibiya allegedly requested explicit photographs and videos from the girl through WhatsApp messages and calls.
The bail proceedings are expected to continue on Wednesday, with the court considering the State’s case against the suspended senior police officer.
