Another victim in the Ekurhuleni killings has been formally identified, bringing some relief to a family that has been searching for answers.
Itumeleng Kekana, originally from QwaQwa in the Free State, was reported missing on 17 July. She is the second of the eight women whose bodies have been discovered across the East Rand over the past two months to be formally identified.
Kekana’s identification provides her family with answers about her whereabouts, but questions remain about the circumstances surrounding her death.
Police are investigating the deaths and have not confirmed whether the cases are linked.
The discovery of the women’s bodies across areas of Ekurhuleni has prompted a wider investigation, with experienced investigators brought in to assist with the probe.
Authorities are continuing to work to identify the remaining victims and establish what happened to each of the women.
Investigators are also looking into any possible links between the cases as the probe continues.
