The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has issued a safety recall affecting 2,275 Ford Ranger double-cab vehicles sold in South Africa between 22 May and 23 June 2026.
The recall relates to a potential fault involving the vehicles’ side curtain airbags, which could come into contact with the B-Pillar trim when the airbags deploy.
According to Ford, the interaction could increase the risk of injury to occupants during a crash.
The affected vehicles were also exported to Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini.
NCC spokesperson Phetho Ntaba warned that the fault could cause the B-Pillar trim to detach from the vehicle when the side curtain airbag is activated.
“This may actually increase the risk of injury to vehicle occupants,” Ntaba said.
The commission has urged owners and drivers of affected Ford Rangers to contact their nearest Ford dealership as soon as possible to have their vehicles inspected.
Ntaba stressed that consumers would not be required to pay for any repairs linked to the recall.
“We urge consumers, owners, as well as drivers of these vehicles, to immediately contact their nearest dealership to have their cars inspected,” he said.
“And remember, if they need to do any repair, that repair will be done at no cost to you as a consumer.”
