The case against Ndodana Tshuma, who is wanted in the United Kingdom over the alleged murder of his wife and two daughters, is expected to return to the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.
Tshuma, 45, is accused of killing his wife, Zandile, and their daughters, 15-year-old Natalie and five-year-old Nala, in the UK last month.
He was arrested several days later in Kensington, Johannesburg, where authorities allegedly found him in possession of a firearm.
Tshuma, an IT specialist, is facing additional charges in South Africa for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
South African authorities are also processing a provisional extradition request from the UK as officials work to obtain outstanding documentation relating to the case.
State prosecutor Lourain Kgaditsi told the court that investigations were still ongoing, with only documentation relating to Tshuma's legal status in South Africa having been finalised.
"The charges in the United Kingdom are a murder charge. In this country, he is further facing a charge of possession of a firearm and ammunition," Kgaditsi said.
The matter was previously heard in Court 16, with the case remanded to 27 August for further proceedings.
Authorities are awaiting additional documentation from the UK as the extradition process continues.
