Social grant beneficiaries have until 31 August 2026 to migrate from the old SASSA Gold Card to the new Postbank Black Card.
Postbank says more than 1.8 million beneficiaries have already completed the migration process, but those who have not yet switched are being urged to do so before the deadline.
Additional measures have been introduced at card replacement sites to accommodate the expected increase in beneficiaries during the final days of the migration period.
The card replacement process is free of charge. Beneficiaries must present a valid South African identity document or a temporary ID when applying for the new card.
Beneficiaries can collect their new cards from any province, regardless of where their SASSA grant was originally approved.
How to get the new Postbank Black Card
Beneficiaries who still have a Gold Card must take their valid or temporary South African ID and current Gold Card to a designated card replacement site.
The new card can also be obtained at participating major retailers, including Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Boxer, Pick n Pay and Spar, as well as participating Postbank sites.
Postbank is urging beneficiaries who have not yet migrated to make the necessary arrangements as soon as possible to avoid long queues and delays ahead of the 31 August deadline.
