A man believed to be in his 50s was shot and killed in Durban's Springfield area on Thursday afternoon.
Emergency services were dispatched to Lotus Road following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, paramedics found that the scene had already been secured by police officers.
According to ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, emergency responders were directed to the victim, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
"Paramedics were shown to a male believed to be in his 50s who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body," Jamieson said.
The man was assessed at the scene, but paramedics found no signs of life and declared him dead.
"He was assessed by paramedics, however he showed no signs of life and was declared deceased at the scene," Jamieson added.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and police have launched an investigation into the incident.
No arrests have been reported at this stage.
