The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has reminded beneficiaries that only three payment months remain before SASSA Gold Cards become invalid.

Beneficiaries have until 31 August to replace their existing gold cards with the new Postbank Black Cards.

Postbank warned that failure to switch to the new cards before the deadline will result in the gold cards no longer functioning after 31 August.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Postbank spokesperson Bongani Diako urged beneficiaries not to delay the replacement process.

He warned that waiting until the final weeks could lead to long queues and delays at card replacement centres.

Diako also reiterated that the deadline will not be extended, urging grant recipients to act as soon as possible to avoid disruptions to their payments.

The card replacement process forms part of Postbank’s migration to the new black card system aimed at improving security and service delivery for social grant beneficiaries.
