A 19-year-old boy has been stabbed to death and two others injured during a violent confrontation on Maponya Road in Umlazi, south of Durban.
The victims, all pupils from Menzi High School, were reportedly selling sweets when they were approached by a group of men.
According to preliminary reports, the suspects allegedly demanded a “protection fee”, which led to an altercation.
The situation escalated, resulting in one teenager being fatally stabbed, while two others sustained stab wounds.
South African Police Service (SAPS) in Umlazi have opened a case of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects, who remain at large.
