The bail application of suspended Organised Crime Unit member Fannie Nkosi is set to resume in the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Nkosi was arrested earlier this month following a raid on his home in Pretoria North by the SAPS Madlanga Commission Task Team. He faces multiple charges, including theft, defeating the ends of justice, and unlawful possession of ammunition and explosives.

His arrest comes after he previously spent eight days giving testimony before the Madlanga Commission, where he addressed alleged links to suspected criminal figures Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and Katiso “KT” Molefe.

Having already spent more than two weeks in custody, Nkosi is now seeking release on bail as proceedings continue.

In an affidavit submitted to the court, Nkosi maintained his innocence, stating that he intends to plead not guilty and arguing that the charges against him are fabricated.

The state is opposing his release, contending that the evidence suggests he may have been involved in protecting individuals linked to serious and violent criminal activity.

The matter is expected to continue before the court as arguments on bail are heard.
