Three men have been killed in a shooting at a taxi rank in Delft on the Cape Flats, with police investigating the incident as a suspected case of taxi-related violence.

According to South African Police Service spokesperson André Traut, officers responded to the scene in the Voorbrug area where two men, aged 55 and 58, were found with gunshot wounds.

“Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the bodies of two men who had sustained gunshot wounds. Both victims were declared dead at the scene by medical personnel,” Traut said.

A third victim, aged 38, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a Toyota Quantum stopped at the taxi rank before shots were fired from inside the vehicle. The suspects then fled the scene.

Police believe the attack may be linked to ongoing taxi violence in the area. Investigations into the shooting are continuing.
