Iranian politician and former military officer Ali Larijani has ruled out any negotiations with the United States, warning that Tehran will respond forcefully to what he described as American-led aggression in the region.
Larijani, who previously served in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, made the remarks in a series of posts on X, written in Arabic.
He accused US President Donald Trump of destabilising the Middle East, claiming Washington’s policies have prioritised Israel’s interests over those of American citizens.
“With his delusional actions, he turned his self-made ‘America First’ slogan into ‘Israel First’ and sacrificed American soldiers for Israel’s power-hungry ambitions,” Larijani wrote.
His comments come amid rising tensions following recent military exchanges. Reports indicate that three American service members have been killed, with additional casualties recorded in the United Arab Emirates, Israel and Kuwait.
Larijani said Iran had not initiated hostilities but would defend itself if threatened.
“To the countries of the region: We are not seeking to attack you,” he said. “But when the bases located in your country are used against us, and when the United States carries out operations relying on these forces, then we will target those bases.”
He added that such installations should be regarded as American, not local, assets.
Washington has signalled the possibility of further military action. On Sunday, Trump warned that additional US casualties could occur as operations against Iran continue.
The exchange underscores growing instability in the region, with diplomatic channels appearing increasingly strained as both sides adopt hardened positions rather than opening the door to talks — a trajectory that leaves little room for de-escalation.
