The City of Ekurhuleni has rejected allegations circulating on social media that the water supply in Tsakani, Duduza, Langaville and KwaThema has been poisoned.

City spokesperson Zweli Dlamini says the municipality conducts daily water quality testing and has confirmed that the supply remains safe for consumption and fully compliant with national drinking water standards.

“There is no problem with the water in the City of Ekurhuleni. People can continue consuming our water. It remains among the best in the country,” Dlamini said.

He strongly condemned the spread of what he described as false claims and voice notes on social media, saying they were causing unnecessary panic among residents.

“Whoever is sending out these false allegations does not take the feelings of our people seriously, and we strongly condemn that,” he added.

The municipality has urged residents to rely on official communication channels for accurate information and to avoid sharing unverified messages that could fuel fear and confusion.
