Eastern Cape Teacher Killed in Ntabankulu School Shooting Succumbs in Hospital

The Eastern Cape Department of Education has confirmed that a third teacher injured in a shooting at Ntabankulu Primary School has died.

The incident occurred on Thursday when a suspended deputy principal opened fire at the school before turning the weapon on himself. One teacher and the perpetrator were pronounced dead at the scene, while a second teacher died at Ntabankulu Medical Centre. The third teacher, who had been rushed to Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital in Mthatha, passed away this morning.

The deputy principal was out on bail facing sexual assault charges at the time of the attack.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and counselling services have been offered to students, staff, and the wider community.
