Mediclinic Victoria Hospital on High Street in Tongaat, KwaZulu-Natal, was evacuated on Thursday following a reported bomb threat.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) said it received a call from a member of the public at 11:11am, reporting multiple emergency vehicles responding to the medical facility. Reaction officers were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers were informed that hospital employees had received information suggesting a possible bomb threat on the premises. Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) were already at the hospital and initiated a precautionary evacuation of staff and patients.
Authorities have urged members of the public to avoid the area while investigations into the reported threat continue.
