The site of the Verulam building collapse has been officially declared a crime scene as investigations into the deadly incident intensify.
Authorities confirmed that the site will be handed over to the Department of Public Works for further forensic and structural investigations. The move follows the release of a preliminary report by Public Works Minister Dean Macpherson.
Five men lost their lives when the four-storey temple building collapsed last week. Their bodies were later recovered from the rubble during search and rescue operations.
Four of the five victims were laid to rest on Tuesday, as families and community members continue to mourn the tragedy. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the collapse and whether any laws or building regulations were violated.
