Three suspects are expected to appear in the Clocolan Magistrate’s Court in the Free State on Monday in connection with a violent farm attack in the area.
Police spokesperson Mmako Mophiring says the suspects were arrested on Friday following an incident that occurred on Wednesday night. According to police, the suspects allegedly forced their way into a farmhouse and demanded valuables from the occupants.
Mophiring says a woman, who had been hiding inside a wardrobe during the attack, was allegedly raped by two of the suspects.
A joint operation involving police and local farmers led to the swift arrest of all three suspects in the Hlohlolwane area. During the operation, officers also recovered a stolen firearm.
Police say two of the suspects are believed to be workers on the farm. Investigations into the case are continuing.
