The eThekwini Municipality has lifted the boil-water alert issued for Athlone Park in Amanzimtoti, which also impacted Galleria Mall, Arbour Crossing and Kingsway Hospital over the weekend.
According to the municipality, the alert was prompted by test results indicating that water in the area did not meet acceptable quality standards. Officials launched an immediate investigation and traced the issue to the Athlone Park supply zone, where corrective measures were implemented.
Follow-up tests have since confirmed that the water is safe for consumption.
The city has reassured residents that potable water across the metro is routinely tested and monitored to ensure compliance with SANS 241 national drinking water standards.
