Two former State Security Agency (SSA) employees accused of misappropriating R12 million in state funds will return to the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Pretoria on 26 January 2026.
Former project manager Patrick Mshothola and former Deputy Director for Counterintelligence, Thulani Dlomo, briefly appeared in court on Monday after their arrest the previous day. The pair, facing charges of theft, fraud, forgery, and uttering, were granted bail of R20 000 each under strict conditions.
According to Investigative Directorate Against Corruption spokesperson Henry Mamothane, the matter was postponed to allow for the disclosure of the indictment and to secure a High Court date.
Mamothane said the two men allegedly acted in concert to divert approximately R12 million from the SSA during their time of employment at the agency.
The case is expected to be transferred to the High Court once formal processes are completed a reminder that even in intelligence circles, the paper trail can be far more revealing than the classified files.
