A second suspect linked to the fatal shootings of a principal and an administrative clerk at Inxiweni Primary School in Thembisa is expected to appear in the local magistrates’ court on Monday. The suspect was arrested on Friday in connection with the murders of 58-year-old principal Ruth Tabu and 55-year-old administrative clerk Nobantu Njombini.

The two women were gunned down inside the school’s administrative block on the evening of 18 November 2025, sending shockwaves through the community.

A 26-year-old female financial clerk at the school was the first to be arrested, taken into custody the day after the killings. She appeared in court on 21 November 2025. Police also arrested an alleged hitman on the same day.

The financial clerk is accused of orchestrating the murders after being questioned over suspicious transactions amounting to more than R52 000, allegedly transferred from the school’s account into her personal bank account. Police say investigations are ongoing as the case returns to court.
