KwaZulu-Natal police have launched a manhunt for gunmen who ambushed and shot three people in Redcliffe, north of Durban, on Thursday night, killing one and injuring two others.
According to authorities, the attack occurred along Quarry Road in the Umhlasini area, where the suspects reportedly approached the victims’ vehicle on foot and opened fire before fleeing the scene.
The 51-year-old driver was declared dead on arrival, while the two passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital for treatment.
KZN police spokesperson Thenjiswa Ngcobo confirmed that Verulam police have opened a case of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
“The motive for the shooting remains unknown at this stage,” said Ngcobo.
Police are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in apprehending the suspects.
