The Western Cape Mobility Department has called on motorists to exercise extreme caution as heavy rains and poor weather conditions sweep across the province.
The warning comes as the South African Weather Service (SAWS) issues a Yellow Level 4 alert for disruptive rainfall expected to impact several regions throughout the day.
Department spokesperson Muneera Allie said traffic law enforcement officers will be deployed to high-risk areas to monitor road safety and assist where necessary.
“We urge all road users to prioritise safety by reducing speed, increasing following distance, and using headlights in low visibility,” Allie said.
Authorities have reminded drivers to avoid flooded roads, remain vigilant, and report any hazards as weather-related risks are expected to persist.
