The City of Cape Town says it is prepared to roll out coordinated relief efforts as another round of cold, wet, and windy weather is set to batter the region from Thursday.
This comes as the South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow Level 4 warning for disruptive rainfall across parts of the Western Cape, with severe conditions expected to persist until Sunday.
Authorities have cautioned that the heavy downpours could result in localised flooding, property damage, and dangerous driving conditions. Residents are urged to take precautions and stay informed.
“The City is on high alert and ready to respond where necessary,” officials said in a statement, adding that disaster risk management teams are on standby.
The warning follows last week’s torrential rains, which caused significant flooding in several informal settlements across the province, leaving many residents displaced and in need of urgent assistance.
The City has urged communities to report blocked drains, fallen trees, and flooding as early as possible to help mitigate damage.
