Frustration boiled over in Palm Ridge as residents of Phase 5 took to the streets on Monday, demanding urgent action from the City of Ekurhuleni over continued service delivery failures.
The protest was sparked by the municipality’s silence following a formal memorandum submitted by the community, outlining key concerns including the lack of electricity infrastructure.
“Our municipality is saying nothing,” said a community leader at the demonstration. “We submitted a memorandum with all the issues we wanted addressed, but we’ve received no response. We’ve resorted to this protest because they’re simply ignoring us.”
Residents claim a budget has already been allocated to electrify the area, yet no contracts have been signed or work started.
The community is now calling on the municipality to act swiftly and transparently to address their grievances before the situation escalates further.
