U.S. President Donald Trump has abruptly departed the G7 Summit in Canada to return to Washington, as tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate.

The White House confirmed his early departure, with Trump stating on social media that Iran should have accepted a proposed nuclear deal, now collapsed. He also issued a dramatic call for the evacuation of Tehran and reiterated that his "America First" policy means Iran must never possess nuclear weapons.

The urgency comes after U.S. Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth announced the deployment of additional military assets to the region, citing the need to strengthen America’s defensive posture. This follows reports that Israel is pressuring the U.S. to join its war efforts against Iran.

White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said Trump would leave immediately after the G7 heads of state dinner. U.S. media reports that he has requested an emergency meeting with the National Security Council upon arrival in Washington.

Before departing, Trump thanked Canada for hosting the summit but stressed the need to return early, saying, “I have to be back very important... I need to get back early for obvious reasons.”
