Frustration is mounting across Gauteng as thousands of residents continue to endure widespread water outages linked to a major infrastructure maintenance project by bulk water supplier Rand Water.
Now in its second day, the large-scale operation is aimed at upgrading critical components of the province’s water delivery network. The maintenance work is focused on several key pumping stations including Eikenhof, Palmiet, Mapleton, and Zwartkopjes which are vital to ensuring long-term stability and efficiency in water supply.
While the upgrade is intended to enhance future service delivery, many communities have been left without water, prompting growing concern and criticism over the impact of the disruption.
Authorities have urged residents to use water sparingly as technicians work to complete the upgrades within the scheduled timeframe.
