Emergency crews are responding to a devastating plane crash that occurred early Thursday morning in San Diego’s Murphy Canyon neighbourhood, as investigations continue into the unfolding situation.
Local authorities confirmed that a small Cessna 550 aircraft went down during foggy weather conditions, directly striking several homes. The crash triggered fires in approximately 15 residences and led to widespread evacuations across several city blocks.
At a press briefing, San Diego Assistant Fire Chief Dan Eddy said crews were focused on ensuring the safety of residents and searching homes in the affected area.
“There is jet fuel all over the place,” Eddy stated. “This was a direct hit to multiple homes.”
As of now, it is unclear how many people were aboard the aircraft or whether there have been any injuries or fatalities. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the plane involved was a Cessna 550, a model typically capable of carrying six to eight passengers.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid the area while emergency services continue operations.
This remains a developing story. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.
