ActionSA has hinted that it may rethink its stance on joining the Government of National Unity (GNU) if the Democratic Alliance (DA) either exits or is removed from the coalition.
The party, however, insists that its primary focus remains on preventing the proposed increase in Value Added Tax (VAT). This comes after the national budget passed with a narrow margin of 192 votes in favor and 182 against.
The contentious decision follows the approval of a report recommending a 0.5 percentage point VAT increase, a move ActionSA strongly opposes.
Meanwhile, the DA has raised concerns over the budget process, arguing that it was fundamentally flawed. The party has indicated that it may challenge aspects of the decision, further fueling political tensions within the GNU.
With growing uncertainty around the coalition government, ActionSA's latest position adds to speculation about potential shifts in the country’s political landscape.
