A light aircraft crashed at the Beachwood Golf Course in Durban North on Tuesday morning, leaving both occupants fortunate to survive the incident. The plane went down near Virginia Airport, sparking a swift response from emergency services.

According to ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson, the two people aboard the aircraft were able to escape unharmed. “Paramedics arrived on the scene to find the eThekwini Fire Department already on site and were led to the wreckage of the light aircraft, which had come to rest in the trees,” Jamieson explained.

He further noted that the two occupants, who had been on board at the time of the crash, were transported privately for medical care.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has since called off the scene, allowing the relevant authorities to begin their investigation into the cause of the crash.
