A 27-year-old suspect linked to the killing of six community patrollers in Soshanguve now faces 13 additional charges following his arrest last week for illegal firearm possession, ammunition, and immigration violations.

The suspect, who has yet to be named, appeared in court for the second time on Monday, where he was formally charged with murder and attempted murder. The charges stem from a deadly confrontation in the Marry Me informal settlement, north of Pretoria, where local patrollers clashed with five unidentified men.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect was connected to the mass killing through an identity parade after his arrest.

He is set to return to court on Tuesday, where all 16 charges will be consolidated. He will appear alongside a 50-year-old co-accused, who was arrested for possession of an illegal firearm and live ammunition.

The case has sent shockwaves through the community, with residents calling for swift justice.
